September 2020
Due to the cancellation of the JWMTBOC 2020, junior athletes born in the year 2000 could not compete for medals in their final year of junior eligibility, and athletes born in 2001 and 2002 missed out on one of the three World Championships they would normally have in M20/W20. Thhe IOF member federations were therefore consulted to find out if a majority wish to have the JWMTBOC 2020 integrated into the JWMTBOC 2021.

April 2018: MTBO mechanical problems
With regard to rule 21.9 in the MTBO Competition Rules, the MTBO community are trying to collect some data on the number of times a technical zone was offered and used (or not used), and the number of times when there was no technical zone, but one could have used it.
Please help to create a dataset of mechanical problems experienced at a World Cup event by answering the few questions in the questionnaire. Thank you!

September 2017: Survey regarding minimum limit of participants per 5-year age class at the WMMTBOC Results
In 2015 the MTBOC already carried out a survey regarding the minimum limit of participants per 5-year age class at the WMMTBOC (see below). According to that survey 67/100 respondents were in favour of such a limit. The vast majority (53/67) wanted this limit to be at least 10 participants. That is why the MTBOC requested a minimum limit of 10 participants per each age class. We also wanted to ensure that the WMMTBOC title carries appropriate prestige and that the WMMTBOC are considered to be more than a non-competitive fun event for older people.
At the WMMTBOC in 2016 and 2017 two adjacent classes in the same decade were merged if either or both had fewer than 10 entries.
Merged classes in 2016: W50/55 (15 starting competitors), W60/65 (7), M70/75 (16); in 2017: W40/45 (19), W60/65 (19).
Since then there has been much debate and discussion about the minimum class size at the WMMTBOC. The MTBO Commission considers the active participation of Masters as a very important element in developing the sport and we would like that all Masters get the recognition they deserve.
The MTBO Commission therefore planned to submit a rules change proposal regarding the classes at the World Masters MTBO Championships and launched a short survey to find out if the majority of the Masters agree with this proposal.
